Q.
Is this the same organization that Howard Dean
started?
A. The
organization originated with the Dean campaign in 2004, and was
originally organized to support his presidential run. It was
reformed after the November election in order to be a progressive voice
on the Eastern shore of MD, and to advocate for progressive issues.
Q. Why not
just join the Democrats?
A. While we frequently share values with the Democratic Party, we
believe that both the major parties have been tainted and compromised
unduly by the influence of corporations, and the need to raise large
amounts of money. Reducing the influence of Corporate money is
vital to the preservation of democracy, and we will support candidates
who show by their records and their votes that they will represent the
people, not the corporations.
Q. What does
it cost to join?
A. At present, nothing but your time and enthusiasm. Any decision
to charge a membership fee or dues will be a matter to be voted on by
the active membership.
Q. What makes
you think you can change anything?
A. We can't if we don't try.
